“El Clasico,” Real Madrid vs. Barcelona, is big in Nicaragua.
But when I mean big, it’s
BIG. Our national soccer league is still growing, but Niacaraguans love the
La Liga. Come November 21st, the streets, bars, restaurants,
and virtual stadiums in Managua will be flooded with Real Madrid and Barcelona
jerseys.
Wait,
.... did you say Virtual
Stadiums? In Nicaragua?
Well, yes I did…but don’t get
your hopes up… it’s not what you think it is…
Back home, a virtual stadium is composed of a large projection
screen, hundreds of people lumped together, standing with no seats to watch a
live soccer game. Just take a look below...
Wait, how is this virtual?
Well, it’s not. But it does make it sound better doesn’t it?
But still… this is NOT Virtual…
Exactly!
Virtual Reality is exactly what NextVR is doing over in Laguna Beach, California.
They plan to have 360 degree
cameras in stadiums, golf courses, race tracks, and arenas, and will offer
users to watch through your own virtual reality headset. Wherever the user
tilts their head, the headset will show that range of vision. You will feel
immersed within the crowd, as if you were actually there.
The user is offered a 360 degree
view within the stadium. He has viewpoints to choose from, but most
importantly, he will be a part of the experience.
Just make sure you have a good
surround sound system because you want to be able to hear the cheering, the
drums, the boos, the chants, the whistling, the locals, the players calling for
the ball, and the striking of the ball.
No longer will it be a hassle to
go to the restroom during half time, or get something to eat or drink. You’ll
be at the comfort of your own home!
No more uncomfortable plastic
seats. Now it’s the same comfy sofa you lounge on every weekend. Can it get any
more comfortable than that?
NextVR has successful experience
in soccer matches, Nascar races, and hopes to offer their service soon; it is
said to be a US $4 billion dollar industry. Although its price has not yet been
communicated to the general public, they do offer newsletters with updates and
information about the product.
Well, next time you want to see
Real Madrid, or Manchester United, you might not have to come all the way to El
Santiago Bernabeu, or Old Trafford, just walk to your living room, and put on
the head gear.
Virtual Reality will be able to give you seats that are inaccessible and priceless.
Live sports it about to get a little more “live.”
