A whole new way to see the world.

A few weeks ago, during a Women in Business club meeting at IE Business School, Dona Sakar wowed us with her speech where she shared tips on how to be successful. Dona not only rocks at Microsoft, but she is also a designer, an engineer and she has written a book that I definitely want to read: You had me at “Hello World.” Plus, she has sparked the “I sooo want to learn how to code” desire in me (a marketing person). During her speech, Dona shared some information about technology she was working on with holograms.

I thought the whole idea of holograms sounded cool but it wasn’t until the next day, during a presentation that Microsoft gave, that I truly realized the enormous impact holograms are going to have in our lives.  Microsoft is creating a revolutionary product called the Microsoft HoloLens:

imagine movies where you see the stars interacting with images virtually…

screens floating in the air…

moving things around with your hands…

making images appear and disappear…

looking at things in 3D…

So, now what you thought was only possible in movies will soon be part of our everyday lives.  The Microsoft HoloLens is going to give us a whole new way to interact with the world…a sort of new reality if you wish.

If the Microsoft HoloLens actually works as shown in the promotional videos, I believe that it is definitely going to be a technology game changer. It has the potential replace TV’s and other devices and it will definitely give us a completely different way to communicate with others. In addition, since you will be able to see and create objects in 3D, 3D printers are going to be an in-home staple to print any holograms created.

It looks like developers will start having access to the HoloLens in early 2016…Are you ready to start looking at the world in a whole new way?
